My Philosophy & Therapy Process
My Approach to Couples Therapy
When your relationship feels broken or worn down by misunderstandings, betrayal, or disconnection, it’s natural to wonder if things can be repaired. As a couple’s therapist, I believe every relationship deserves the opportunity to grow and heal—even if the path forward feels uncertain or challenging.
My role isn’t to direct you toward a specific outcome but to support you and your partner as you discover your own path. Whether that means strengthening your bond or parting ways with mutual understanding and respect, we’ll explore what is possible together.
Addressing Common Challenges In Relationships
Relationships face a wide range of challenges that can strain even the strongest bonds. You may be experiencing:
Communication breakdowns that leave you feeling unheard or misunderstood.
Betrayals of trust, including infidelity or financial dishonesty.
Intimacy struggles or sexual disconnection.
Behavioral compulsions, such as gambling, internet/gaming, or pornography, that affect trust and intimacy.
I specialize in helping couples navigate these challenges with a dynamic and personalized approach. I work with you both as a couple and individually to explore and support your personal and shared journeys.
Rebuilding Communication & Trust
For many couples, disagreements and conflict are inevitable. In fact, healthy conflict can lead to growth. However, patterns like criticism, defensiveness, contempt, and stonewalling (often referred to as Gottman’s “four horsemen”) can make arguments toxic and erode connection.
My training in Gottman Therapy, Imago Therapy, and Gestalt Therapy equips me to offer practical, research-based tools to improve communication and resolve conflict in healthier ways. Through techniques like mirroring, validation, and empathy, I help you and your partner connect and communicate effectively—even during difficult conversations. This process isn’t about winning or losing. Couples counseling means deepening understanding and building resilience in your relationship.
Healing From Betrayal & Behavioral Compulsions
Betrayal can take many forms, from emotional or physical affairs to financial secrecy. Behavioral compulsions like excessive gaming, pornography, or gambling can also disrupt trust and intimacy. These challenges can leave you feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or uncertain about how to rebuild.
Rebuilding after such breaches takes time, patience, and dedication. My structured approach helps couples navigate these challenges with accountability, empathy, and gradual healing. Together, we’ll create a framework for addressing wounds and regaining trust—not just to repair what was lost, but to build something even stronger.
Working Together Towards Growth
We all know there is no one, universal “perfect” relationship. Couples therapy is forging an honest, compassionate, and resilient connection between you and your partner. Even if you and your partner leave therapy feeling more unified than ever or discover that parting ways is the right choice, I’m here to help you find clarity, release resentment, and uncover tools that support healing.
If you’re ready to take this journey, I invite you to reach out. Let’s work together to create a partnership that is healthier, more connected, and true to who you both are.
